The breed was born in 1928 and fulfilled the wishes. However, it got a quite bad reputation among certain people, as it is said to be excessively aggressive. It is even banned in a anumber of coutries, including Great Britain and Australia.

The breed was recognized in Argentina 1964 and it is an accepted breed by FCI since 1973.

Not at all. The name refers to Argentina, because the two brothers who created the breed were from this country. Their dream was to create a breed for big game, to create a breed which is not only powerful and protective, but also a loyal family pet.
The base of the breeding started with the Fighting Dog of Cordoba, but they also used the following breeds to increase good skills: Pointer, Boxer, Great Dane, Bulldog, Irish Wolfhound, Dogue de Bordeaux, Great Pyrenees, Spanish Mastiff.
The results speaks for itself..
