Why does a Dogo Argentino smell bad?

Ann | November 8th, 2009

Sometimes bathing may not be the reason for the dog to develop an odor. Sometimes the answer can be seen beneath the coat.

Dogo Argentino

  • Skin allergies, the Dogo Argentino can develop rashes which they find so irritating that they constantly scratch them, wounding the skin and causing calluses. Because of this, a smell permeates that is not very pleasant.
  • The type of foods they are eating as some are not right for the breed’s diet.
  • Dog’s mouth is regularly cleaned will prevent any onset of offensive odors. A healthy mouth should have pearly whites, pink gums that hug the teeth without any brown spots or deposits in the gum line or at the back of the teeth. These are signs of oral disease and should be attended to immediately. “Doggy breath” isn’t exactly “healthy breath”. Dental check-ups and preventive methods such as regular brushing should keep the bad breath away.
