Hi, I have a DA and she\'s the best pet I ever had. Regarding deafness, it is genetically possible due to the fact that they are albino. However, only a very small percentage of them has this problem. Responsible breeders don\'t extend the bloodline of dogs with this problem, but of course there\'s always someone who does. The best way to prove your dog won\'t have any of these issues is by choosing one who is well pigmented. Although I have a too pink dog, she has pigmented well in time and she had well pigmented puppies due to the male dog i chose. If you want, I can give you lots of information about them.

This is very true. Dogos are really intelligent...just be a little patient with them. When I first got a Dogo, he was 9 weeks old. The first few days were difficult to crate and potty train him because he didn't develop a bond yet. But, after a few days, once the bond was stronger, he was very eager to please.
These are the few steps I took--
1) Recognize his signals for going potty- especially after meals, naps and playing. When he starts sniffing and going around in circles, be alert.
2) I would let him get ready for peeing, before I grab him and gently (but firmly) say- NO! NO!. Then I immediately take him out to the back yard (always the same spot) for him to pee.
3) And when he does, praise him to high heaven and give him a treat (its important to reserve treats for occasions like this. Never give out treats for fun).
4) It did take a few days, but one fine morning when we were playing, he stopped, went into the backyard and pee'ed!!!
Needless to say- one of the proudest moment of my life!!
